Barandas Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine that tells the quietly powerful story of Hester, the mother of winemaker Erlank Erasmus, and the town of Barandas from which she came. In an era when travel was unhurried and elegance was woven into everyday life, steam locomotives were often named after a driver’s wife or beloved. The locomotive Hester, immortalised on the label, is a tribute to that tradition – and to a woman whose legacy now travels far beyond its point of origin.

The wine itself echoes the romance of old-world luxury, evoking the refined, unhurried indulgence one might expect aboard a journey such as the Rovos Rail – polished wood, attentive detail, and an experience designed to linger long after the destination is reached.
